Live Music in York |
 |
 |
York really is alive with the sound of music. Whatever
you’re taste there’s sure to be something
to appeal in this city.
Fibbers [map] continues to go from strength to strength bringing a wide
range of acts to its venue at The Stonebow [map], York.
Having dished out live music to the good people of York
for more than a decade Fibbers continues to be ahead of
the pack and plays host to acoustic acts, thrash metal
bands and some of the best new artists in the UK.
The Barbican Centre [map],
Barbican Road, is a big venue that plays host to some
big names. From Jamie Cullum to Mis-teeq this is the place to visit to see chart-busters and older
favourites.
Cool cats should check out The Old White Swan [map] at Goodramgate for swinging jazz nights three times a
week.
Folk music enthusiasts will be impressed by the regular
line ups at The Old Black Swan [map],
Peasholme Green, and the comfortable surroundings in which
to sit back and dream.
If you prefer something gentle, The Sir Jack Lyons
Concert Hall [map], Heslington, has regular performances
from up-and-coming classical artists and orchestras.
When the money’s all spent check out the vast
number of street performers in the city centre. From
Bob Dylan-inspired buskers to steel drum bands you might
just spot the talent of the future.
