The comfortable surroundings are complimented by paintings from local artist Christine Crossley and these can be purchased by customers. Away from the city centre and with breath taking views, The Durham Ox [map] continues to impress diners and critics alike with its locally produced freshly prepared cuisine. The family-run restaurant based at Westway Crayke has an excellent reputation and a cosy romantic feel with candlelit tables and a blazing log fire. Accommodation is also available making this the perfect venue for a weekend away with a loved one. Set in fairytale grounds, The Parsonage Country House Hotel [map] is located just seven miles from York at Escrick. Within the hotel is Lascelles Restaurant which has a solid reputation for good cooking. The wine list compliments an extensive menu that includes Guinea Fowl and Venison dishes.
