Fine Dining In York |
 |
 |
Whether you want to
stay central or get out into the countryside, wherever
you go in York you’ll be assured a great range
of dining options and some truly awe-inspiring views.
Rish International Restaurant [map],
Fossgate, is a fine example of city-centre luxury dining.
The art-deco exterior and stylish modern interior sets
the scene for an eclectic experience. Rish boasts an extensive
mix of traditional and European-inspired dishes. Rish
is owned by husband and wife team Sam and Maria Abu Rish
who were recently voted York’s Best Tourist Related
Employers and have been praised for the personal attention
they give to individual diners.
Staying on Fossgate the famed Blue Bicycle [map] continues to lean against the whitewash walls of the restaurant
that it gave its name to. One of the best fish restaurants
in the region The Blue Bicycle offers a continental feel
and a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
If you’re looking for that personal touch Melton’s
[map] , Scarcroft Lane, York, is a small restaurant with
a very big reputation. Previous chef Adam Holiday has
been poached by Tesco to work on its fine dining range
of eateries but new chef Jon Coates continues to provide
visitors to Melton’s with a range of culinary treats.
The wine list has cross-references to the menu to help
you pick the best accompaniment to your perfect meal.
On Goodramgate The Lime House Restaurant’s [map] reputation continues to go from strength to strength and
it took the prestigious title of best restaurant at The
York Tourism Awards in 2003. The Lime House Restaurant
has that winning combination of a scrumptious menu, large
wine list and some of the best desserts around. The comfortable
surroundings are complimented by paintings from local
artist Christine Crossley and these can be purchased by
customers.
Away from the city centre and with breath taking views, The Durham Ox [map] continues to impress diners and critics alike with its
locally produced freshly prepared cuisine. The family-run
restaurant based at Westway Crayke has an excellent reputation
and a cosy romantic feel with candlelit tables and a blazing
log fire. Accommodation is also available making this
the perfect venue for a weekend away with a loved one.
Set in fairytale grounds, The Parsonage Country House
Hotel [map] is located just seven miles from York at Escrick. Within
the hotel is Lascelles Restaurant which has a solid
reputation for good cooking. The wine list compliments
an extensive menu that includes Guinea Fowl and Venison
dishes.
