it’s nice to tantalise your taste buds with something
a little more unusual and York has some real culinary
treats hidden in-between its gates and snickets.
From continental to oriental and Asia to America there’s
a world of choice from which to choose.
If you’ve got something to celebrate choose the
vibrant and lively surroundings of an Italian restaurant.
York has several centrally located ones offering the
perfect place for a party.
Fellinis [map],
just inside the city walls at Fossgate, is one of York’s
top Italian venues. The bright exterior and traditionally
Italian interior welcomes diners who flock to experience
the vast range of pizza, pasta and pork and chicken dishes
on offer. There’s also a constantly changing specials
board and a good selection of vegetarian food.
Moving around the continent, but staying close by at Castlegate, Jacks Tapas Bar [map] offers a taste of Spain at lunchtimes and evenings. Jacks
is the perfect way to begin your evening out and the wide
range of beers and tapas on offer means there’s
sure to be something for every taste. The menu includes
greenlip mussels, crayfish and mini paella. Jacks also
offers exclusive deals for those wanting to stay over
in the luxurious rooms above the restaurant.
Over on George Hudson Street Kapadokya 50 [map] offers York visitors a glimpse of Turkish hospitality.
Filling cuisine including kebabs and grills are prepared
on an open range fire and there’s also a great range
of vegetarian food as well as traditional desserts.
If you’ve got a taste for Sushi, visit Buzz [map],
Swinegate, which serves a wide selection of traditional
and modern Japanese cuisine. Choose from a Bento box –
separated into compartments containing your sushi and
rice - or go for something vegetarian, the friendly staff
are on hand to advise you. While you’re here, don’t
forget to check out the Asian beers on offer and that
