Comedy In York |
 |
 |
There’s something funny going on in York and if
you’re looking for a great way to start an evening
you can’t go wrong with a visit to a comedy venue.
City Screen [map],
Coney Street, plays host to The Other Side Comedy Club who bring some of the best stand-up in the UK (and
America) to the York masses. Regular stand-up from artists
such as Jimmy Carr, Hattie Hayridge, and Barbara Nice. Relax in the comfortable City Screen
bar that overlooks the river and prepare for an evening
of mirth.
Over at Wentworth College [map], University of York,
regular comedy events take place throughout the year and
bring such artists as Mickey D and Graham Anthony to the city.
If you’re looking for family comedy check out the
latest season at The Grand Opera House [map],
Cumberland Street, for fun and games with the likes of The Chuckle Brothers and gentle humour from Bill
Bryson.
The York Comedy Festival is a relatively new venture
but has already proved popular. So, if you like a giggle
pay your visit to York at the beginning of June and catch
a wide range of stand-up and visual comedy. Previous performers
have included Perrier award-winning Daniel Kitson, Tommy Tiernan and Lee Mack.
