York Entertainment Guide If you’re planning a day visit to York get yourself a York Pass from all good libraries. The York Pass gets you into a range of attractions for free or at a reduced price and cuts your spending in half.

The York Barbican [map], Barbican Road, is the ideal place for all your entertainment needs. Not only does it have two great pools and a fitness suite it’s also the last name in comedy and music with a range of internationally famous faces performing here including the likes of Jamie Cullum and Mis-teeq.

There’s several great cinemas including City Screen [map], Coney Street, for those more unusual films and Vue [map] at Clifton Moor which is a huge cinema village offering all the latest blockbusters.

If you like your cinema surroundings traditional check out The Odeon [map], The Mount, one of the few remaining Odeon’s that still has all its original fixtures and fittings. This is a real visitor attraction and offers a brilliant trip down memory lane.

The York Theatre [map], at St Leonard’s Place, is a great place for new and touring productions. Discover stars of the future or see celebrities live on stage.

Alternatively, if you want something lively check out Fibbers [map], The Stonebow, for a range of live up-and-coming artists and internationally famous acoustic performers. There’s also a great café bar if you’re feeling peckish.
