Sport in West London |
 |
 |
With a passionate
football team to its credit in the shape of Queens
Park Rangers it’s no wonder that when it
comes to sport there’s plenty of heat in West London.
England’s rugby union is on the up following the
World Cup win and is enjoying a renaissance. Pay a visit
to The London Wasps [map] team based at Loftus Road Stadium, South Africa Road,
Shepherd's Bush, to see what all the fuss is about.
Get involved in some sport yourself by visiting one of
West London’s best sports centres. Located
at Chiswick and Paddington these centres have excellent
facilities and you don’t even have to be a member
to take advantage of what’s on offer. From swimming
pools and gymnasiums to free tennis and squash courts, find your inner athlete in West
London.
For something completely different why not sign up for
a Tai Chi class or course. There’s plenty
on offer here and two of the most outstanding schools
are The Lam Association [map],
Hammersmith, and The London Tai Chi Chaun Association
[map],
Ealing. Tai Chi is regarded as a safe sport suitable for
every age and fitness level.
If you don’t feel complete without a nine-iron in
your hand check out the range of golf clubs and courses in the area.
Offering function suites for up to 150 people, The
Dukes Meadows Golf Club [map],
Dan Mason Drive, is the perfect place to bring a touring
society. This nine-hole course has a range of excellent
facilities and has earned a deserved reputation for quality
golf in a tranquil setting, whilst still being close to
the city.
If all of this just seems too stressful why not relax
and let all the cares of the day wash away at one of West
London’s top lidos.
Choose from the Richmond Lido [map],
Twickenham Road, Richmond, TW9, or The Serpentine Lido
[map],
Hyde Park.
Both are full sized swimming pools and
offer visitors the chance to get fit in a relaxing environment
or simply lie back and soak up the summer sun.
