Finding somewhere
to eat that suits your mood is easy given the huge range
of restaurants in West London.Whether you’re looking
for fine dining in a classic restaurant or want to save
some cash, there’s plenty of places to choose from.
If you’re in celebratory mood or simply want to
treat yourself and those with you, go luxury for a feast
of infused cuisine.
Damien Hurst’s Pharmacy [map] is located in Notting Hill, and offers diners the
chance to combine some excellent food with one of the
most unique decors in restaurant history.
In this minimalist eatery that is part chemist part celebrity
hang-out you can experience some exotic treats and see
the latest Hurst installation.
For some of the best Italian cuisine in London
head to Assaggi [map],
Chepstow Place, for a real gem of a restaurant. Assaggi
offers excellent pasta, pizzas and less well-known Italian
food, made with fresh and organic ingredients. Extremely
difficult to get a table so book early to avoid disappointment.
European cuisine lovers will be tempted by the huge menu
on offer at The Providores and Tapa Room [map],
Marylebone High Street, Marylebone. Sugar Club manager
Peter Gordon has brought a traditional range of dishes
to the table at The Providores, whilst The Tapa Room –
named after a ceremonial Tongalese cloth – is the
place for smaller Tapas-inspired dishes in a more casual
setting.
For something different why not give Iranian cuisine a try at Patogh [map],
Crawford Place, Marylebone. This restaurant is getting
increasingly popular and has built up a solid reputation
for offering authentic and exquisitely flavoured cuisine
that makes a real “one of a kind” venue in
London.
If cash is an issue there’s plenty of reasonably
priced venues in which to have a hearty meal.
Try Busaba Eathai [map],
Wardour Street, which offers delicious and crisp Thai
cuisine made from fresh ingredients.
Alternatively, try some excellent veggie offerings from the likes of Beetroot [map],
Berwick Street, which is located in the heart of Soho,
and Rasa [map] located at Dering Street, Mayfair. Rasa serves up a menu
of spicy Indian fayre in a relaxed and ambient atmosphere.
Take advantage of the latest craze and head to a gastropub.
Choose from highly regarded eateries such as The Cow
Dining Room [map],
Westbourne Park Road, Notting Hill, and The Oak [map],
which is close by and less crowded.
The Cow [map] is Tom Conran’s flagship eatery that
owes little to the kind of grandeur favoured by his father
Sir Terence. This warm and friendly place serves up some
of the best seafood in London.
The Oak is something of a hidden gem, and
though the outside looks like a typically British public
house, the interior and the menu is a far classier affair.
Enjoy some unique and interesting cuisine as well as an
extensive wine list.
