Finding a place
to enjoy a hearty meal whilst saving some cash used to
mean your options were limited to greasy spoon cafes –
not anymore. Now there’s a wealth of interesting
cuisine available that doesn’t pull at the purse
strings and comes in at little more than £15 for
a set meal or special. It’s time to treat yourself
without breaking the bank.
Right in the heart of the West End you’ll find Abu
Ali [map] , George Street, which specialises in Middle Eastern
cuisine. What’s particularly special about this
restaurant, aside from the plethora of tasty dishes, is
that not only does Abu have enough space to host a seating
of up to 50 people, they also have a delivery service
that can cater for up to 50 people too. So, if you’re
self-catering this is the perfect way to get out of the
kitchen and start enjoying the cuisine too.
For Persian food try the elegant Alounak [map],
located at Russell Gardens. Persian cuisine fuses a range
of succulent and fresh meat with aromatic herbs and spices
to create a unique dish. The comfortable surroundings
of Alounak make for a relaxing and ambient evening experience.
Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike are sure to find something
tempting on the menu offered at Billy Joe’s [map],
Uxbridge Road, West Ealing, which is a Tex-Mex restaurant that oozes mid-west style. With a range of dishes including
burgers, chillis, and some of the best ribs in London,
Billy Joe’s offers the perfect cuisine to cater
for large parties. The atmosphere in this restaurant is
particularly vibrant and Billy Joe’s even has its
own jail which is sure to be a great talking point if
you choose to have your office party here.
For something altogether more sedate soak up the atmosphere
at Café Du Libam [map],
Edgeware Road, Bayswater, which is a Lebanese restaurant offering a range of tempting meals, primarily from the
grill. Again, this would make an interesting venue for
a relaxed party.
If you’re looking for a café with that extra
touch of class head to Café Trinity [map],
Bedford Park Corner, Chiswick. Locally known for offering
the best coffee in the area, Café Trinity also
has an imaginative collection of fresh sandwiches, and
a range of tempting cakes and patisseries. Eat in and
soak up the ambient atmosphere.
Finding a quality Indian cuisine that
offers reasonable prices is sometimes difficult. Thankfully, Chillies [map] comes to the rescue offering
a fantastic dining experience that won’t leave you
out of pocket. Located at Harrow Road, Maida Vale, W9,
this bright and cosy restaurant offers traditional dishes
cooked in a traditional way. Enjoy an authentic taste
of India and try some scrumptious ice cream to round off
your excellent meal.
