We
never like to think about being taken ill or having an
accident whilst we’re away from home, but these
things do happen and you should be prepared with the right
information and contact numbers should the worse happen.
If you feel unwell and want some medical advice the first
thing you should do is phone the NHS Direct Line on
0845 4647. Trained nurses man the phones and should
be able to tell you what your next move should be (including
advising you to go to the accident and emergency department
of your local hospital). For minor ailments, medical
advice can be given but for anything more serious
the line will probably advise you to see a doctor.
Those who need to see a doctor can try to get in at the Arden Medical Centre [map] on Albany Road, which aims to see patients within 24-hours
of them requesting an appointment.
If you need to go to the hospital, Stratford is serviced
by the Stratford Upon Avon Hospital [map].
This hospital only has a small accident and emergency
department and so if you call an ambulance you might
be taken straight to Warwick Hospital NHS Trust [map] on Lakin Road in Warwick. The A & E department
here operates 24-hours a day and has relatively
low waiting hours depending, of course, on the severity
of your case. |
