When it comes to local history you simply must make a
point of visiting The Shakespeare Centre [map] on Henley Street. This centre will tell you everything
you ever needed to know about the Bard, and then some!
For a fun experience head along to the gruesome Falstaff
Experience [map] on Sheep Street . This 17th century barn is an informative
and theatrical living museum where you will be
able to enjoy the tales of costumed actors, learn about
the magical mysteries of theatre and have your photo taken
beside characters in punishment stocks.
For something unusual pay a visit to the Stratford
Brass Rubbing Centre [map] on Southern Lane. Here visitors can assist in producing souvenir brass rubbings of a wide choice of images
that will take you around 20 minutes to complete. You
can also enjoy making your own brass figure of a knight
or king.
You never know quite what you’ll see at The Market
Hall [map].
This hall gathers together collections of the best of geology, biology, and history, so
expect plenty of gruesome bugs, butterflies and fossils.
There is also a well-stocked souvenir shop where
you can get your very own fossil.
For all the culture you’ll ever need in one area
try Cox’s Yard [map] in Bridgefoot. This former historic timber yard has been
restored to its full glory and now offers a unique venue
incorporating a traditional English pub, tea rooms, brewery,
and The Stratford Tales, an interactive display.
