| If there’s
nothing more you enjoy than spending time waiting for
the splash of the water and the bite on your line, then
you’ll find plenty of great places to fish in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Seven Meadows [map] and Stannells [map], which can be
found right in the heart of Stratford, is a beautiful
stretch of the River Avon and increasingly popular with leisurely fishermen and women who enjoy spending
the afternoon in this picturesque area. Here you’ll
find plenty of roach and chub and there’s also a
good car park if you decide to walk down a bit further
to avoid the crowds.
The canal at the Stratford Basin is a good place
to go if you’re just planning on spending a couple
of hours seeing if there’s much biting. There’s
a lot to do here, besides fish, so it’s worth planning
to fish at the end of your visit and checking out some
of the 40 listed structures and buildings in the
mean time.
Slightly further afield is Kingston Pools in Lighthorne,
not far from Leamington Spa. It consists of five pools offering anglers the chance to catch carp, perch,
and bream. Open all year round, the serious angler might also like to take advantage of night fishing,
which can be arranged with prior notification.
