 |
Enjoy a programme of live musicians at Club Chubby [map] ,
The Fridge, Town Hall Parade, Brixton Hill.
The Royal Albert Hall [map],
Kensington Gore, has a large programme of exciting music
events including hosting the BBC Proms during July.
The London Symphony Orchestra also perform here
regularly. There are also three restaurants so
that you can enjoy a meal before listening to some excellent
classical and operatic music.
Putney, is home to The Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra which was founded in 1973 and continues to bring sweet
music to the ears of locals.
Alternative gig-goers should head to The Carling Brixton
Academy [map],
Stockwell Road. Here you can enjoy a mixed programme of
indie and rock bands including The White Stripes, Massive
Attack and The Streets. This venue has also won a large
number of awards including the NME venue of the year award eight consecutive times.
Be serenaded as you tuck into some top quality cuisine
at La Pergola [map],
Streatham High Road.
The pull here is the excellent Elvis performer,
who serenades late night diners with classics from The
King. The place is extremely lively, and is particularly
popular with keen drinkers. You have been warned.
The Half Moon [map] is firmly established as a great live music venue. On
Monday nights there’s the popular acoustic session while midweek days see up-and-coming contemporary or tribute
bands on stage. On Fridays and Saturdays there are bigger
bands, but the tempo relaxes on Sundays with Jazz at
lunchtime. The Half Moon is located in Putney at Lower
Richmond Road.
