With a diverse variety
of bars from Chelsea and Kensington to Battersea and Brixton,
it’s easy to find a venue to suit your needs.
So whether you’re looking for somewhere to start
the party or intimate surroundings in which to chill
out you’re sure to find the perfect place.
If you’re looking for style try Dusk [map],
Battersea Park Road, which has won numerous awards for its seductive atmosphere. Do your celebrity spotting here too over a sophisticated cocktail or choose from
the long list of fine wines, champagnes and spirits.
Students and alternative-types love Project Orange [map],
St John’s Hill, Battersea. Don’t be alarmed
by the bright and colourful exterior this bar provides
the ultimate chill-out zone and some great unusual
snacks including giant sweetcorn.
Get your evening off to a lively start at Barrio [map],
Battersea Square, which is a contemporary Mexican cocktail
bar. Enjoy some excellent music in the summer months
alongside al fresco drinking.
If you’re on a hen or stag weekend the perfect place
to start your evening is Cavern [map],
Coombe Lane. As the name suggests this bar is decorated
with all things 60s and people from across the globe visit
to enjoy the memorabilia on show. Fun seekers will
be pleased to know that this is a lively venue and the
atmosphere spills out into the large beer garden.
There’s also a juke box where you can request some
favourite tracks from the era that brought us The Beatles,
The Kinks and The Stones.
Another great party venue – although this is of
the more understated variety – comes in the shape
of Le QuecumBar [map],
Battersea High Street. Not only does this bar have a fantastic
name it also has an unusual pre-war French décor
and a programme of top jazz names perform here
on Monday nights.
If you want to combine your drinking with some fine
dining check out The Clipper Bar [map],
Chichester Street, Pimlico. Here you’ll find a wide
selection of beers, wines and spirits and a cellar
containing world wines. The menu fuses cuisine from across
the globe and provides the perfect venue for an ambient
Sunday afternoon.
Taking the whole family to a bar doesn’t have
to be a military exercise with the range of venues available
in South West London.
Choose from a number of traditional pubs that cater
for families.
The White Ferry House [map],
Sutherland Street, which has a wide selection of beers
and spirits as well as the essential soft drinks for kids
and a menu combining snacks, sandwiches and filling traditional
fayre. If the weather’s nice take advantage of the
tables on the pavement outside which gives this typical
British pub a Parisian flair.
