Luxury Hotels in Sheffield |

 |
Although many would
expect the gritty city of Sheffield to have a poor turnout
of upmarket accommodation, the city actually has some
quality offerings complete with the reassuringly expensive
price tag.
Probably one of Sheffield’s most luxurious places
to stay, in terms of accommodation and price, is the Sheffield
Hilton [map].
As part of the international chain of hotels, you can
expect the typical four-star treatment here with
comfortable rooms, well-equipped leisure facilities and
on site bar and restaurant. Special features for the Sheffield
Hilton include nine rooms with a balcony overlooking
the cobbled quayside and Historic Feature Arch Rooms for
business customers.
Another international chain of hotels has chosen to have
a base in Sheffield, this time located three miles from
the city centre in 12 acres of parkland. The Sheffield
Marriott Hotel [map] has 114 rooms some of which boast lakeside views as well as two restaurants, leisure facilities and business
resources. Guests should find there’s everything
they need on site and, when they’re ready to explore,
the city is within easy reach.
For a stylish hotel popular for pleasure and business
travellers alike is the Hotel Bristol [map].
Housed in a former office block, this hotel is unlike
many work environments in that it is friendly and contemporary.
If you want the best room on offer, opt for one of the deluxe rooms that feature a canopy over the bed
and a fruit bowl. Business features, such as modem points
and desk space, come as standard and the hotel is located
close to the city centre so whether you have a meeting
or a dinner date in the city, you’re not too far
away.
If you prefer a traditional style to your hotel
accommodation then why not book your room at the Charnwood
Hotel [map]. Calling itself “Sheffield’s
most distinguished hotel”, Charnwood promises
good service and quality accommodation. Each of the en
suite rooms are individually decorated and contain tea
and coffee making facilities, satellite TV, mini bar,
trouser press and hair dryer. The price includes full
English breakfast and in the evenings you can dine
in the Leo Brasserie, the on site restaurant with an excellent
reputation.
Although it may not be everyone’s idea of luxury,
staying on a houseboat will certainly a unique experience.
Docked in Sheffield’s Victoria Quays [map], houseboats Lily May and Ruby are bright and contemporary
residences complete with wood burning stove, en suite
bathrooms with shower, fully equipped kitchen, dining
area, lounge with television, video and micro hi-fi's.
The two luxury
houseboats offer a relaxing and cosy place to stay
with Ruby accommodating one or two people, while the 50ft
long Lily May can sleep up to six.
