Sandwich Bars in Plymouth |
 |
 |
Plymouth is packed
to bursting with continental sandwich bars, traditional
English cafés and fast food eateries. So if you’re
feeling peckish during your tour of the city, make sure
you stop off at one of these fabulous cafés for
a hearty baguette, steaming hot coffee or strawberry milkshake.
Located on Old Town Street in the city centre, Boulangerie-Patisserie
Francaise [map] offers a wide range of coffees and teas, along with croissants,
quiches, baguettes and salads. On a sunny day you can
even sit outside and watch the world go by while
enjoying your lunch.
Just up the road from here you’ll find Hobbs
Chocolate and Coffee House [map],
which serves some of the best hot drinks in town, particularly
coffee and hot chocolate, as its name suggests! You can
relax in one of comfortable sofas and chairs while
you enjoy a latte, cappuccino, expresso, mocha or deluxe
hot chocolate, or sit at a table and tuck into a baguette,
jacket potato or hot soup.
For freshly made sandwiches, pastries or cakes head to Sarnies [map],
which is located under the Money Centre near Drake’s
Circus in central Plymouth. This is one of the most convenient
places in the city centre to grab a quick lunch if you don’t have time to stop.
Another of Plymouth's well loved sandwich bars is Cap
‘n’ Jasper’s [map] on Sutton Harbour in the historic Barbican area of town.
Here you can pick up huge hot dogs and burgers
along with a wonderful cup of tea, but be warned there
is no eat-in area, so you must be prepared to dine al
fresco.
Other sandwich bars also worth trying include O’Brien’s
Irish Sandwich Bar [map] on Old Town Street, where you can enjoy tasty bagels
and sandwiches, and the Oggie Oggie Pasty Co [map] on Cornwall Street, which sells a wide variety of pasties,
including vegetarian ones.
