For a warm welcome
to the southwest why not stay at one of Plymouth’s
many attractive and affordable guesthouses, where comfort
is the name of the game.
Many of these small hotels welcome families and groups,
although they make sure lone travellers are also well
looked after.
There is a cluster of guesthouse around the famous Plymouth Hoe, including Sea Breezes [map] on the seafront in West Hoe, which has en suite rooms
and a friendly service. This family run establishment
is situated conveniently for the Barbican, shops, restaurants
and theatres in the city centre, while other attractions,
such as Dartmoor National Park, are within easy driving
distance.
Also on The Hoe is the Tudor House Hotel [map] on Citadel Road, which offers great value for money,
a comfy bed and a hearty breakfast. Children are welcome
and vegetarians are catered for.
Just up the road from here you’ll find the Mayflower
Guest House [map],
which is close to the historic Barbican district, the
marina, Plymouth Bus Station and the city centre shops.
All rooms come fully equipped with central heating, colour
TV and tea/coffee-making facilities, whilst most rooms
also have an en suite shower room.
Situated on North Road East, Hotspur Guest House [map] offers clean, comfortable accommodation for families,
couples and small parties. It is close to all Plymouth’s
major attractions, including the theatres, restaurants
and the university. The rooms here have central heating,
colour TV, and tea/coffee-making facilities. In addition
there is a guest lounge and email facilities available on the ground floor.
Other guest houses worth checking out include The Mountbatten
[map] on Exmouth Road, which is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, Kynance Hotel [map] on Citadel Road West, a swanky B&B, and Jewell’s
Hotel [map] in Citadel Road.
