From luxury seafront
hotels to quaint malthouse cottages in the country, there
is more choice than ever these days when it comes to finding
a place to stay in Plymouth.
If you’re planning on splashing out during your
break then there are plenty of luxury hotels to choose from in and around the city
centre.
One of the most stylish hotels in Plymouth is The Grand
Hotel [map],
which is situated just off the city’s famous Hoe.
Dating back to the Victorian era, this hotel is an imposing
building that overlooks Plymouth Sound, and has a wealth
of facilities, including its own top class restaurant.
For a plush country break,
head out into Plymouth’s beautiful countryside where
you’ll find a good selection of hotels to choose
from. For example, just outside the city centre on the
edge of Dartmoor National Park, the Moorlands Link
Hotel [map] at Yelverton has a reputation for excellent wine, food,
and a friendly service. Alternatively you could try the Two Bridges Hotel [map],
which is located in one of the most beautiful spots on
Dartmoor and is surrounded by 60 acres of spectacular
grounds.
Those looking for more homely accommodation should check
out the wealth of B&Bs in the city, including the Rainbow Lodge [map] which is located near The Hoe amongst a cluster of guesthouses.
Another of Plymouth’s most well known bed and breakfast’s
is the Tudor House Hotel [map],
a comfortable, traditional inn with good food.
There is also a good choice of budget
accommodation for those visitors who are saving their
pennies. Among the best money-saving places to stay are
Plymouth University’s halls of residence during
the summer months.
Plymouth also has its own Youth Hostel Association
hostel [map] situated in the Randnor and Pilgrim halls at the university.
Although it is only open during the Christmas and summer
holidays, it provides comfortable, clean bed and breakfast
accommodation for backpackers.
Finally, for self-catering
accommodation you can opt for anything from a beautiful
little cottage to a grand holiday apartment. The Hoeside
Holiday Flats [map] on Athenaeum Street are well-equipped apartments set near
the beautiful Plymouth Hoe in the city centre, while a
few miles out of Plymouth are Yealm Cottages [map] in the scenic village of Noss Mayo.
