As
a popular seaside town, Plymouth attracts thousands of
tourists each year so it’s good to know there is
a wealth of buses available linking it to major cities
around the UK.
If you’re travelling from within the South West
then Plymouth City Bus and First Devon and Cornwall should be able to meet your needs with regular services
into the city centre from places such as Torquay, Tavistock
and Exeter.
Visitors heading to Plymouth from further afield would
be best hopping aboard a National Express coach,
as the service connects the city to hundreds of major
UK destinations.
There is a direct route to Plymouth’s Bretonside
bus station [map] from London Victoria, which takes around four and
a half hours. There are also direct services to Manchester,
Birmingham and Bristol, from which you can get connection
to around 1,000 other destinations.
Those heading to Plymouth from a UK airport are
also in luck as there are services from Heathrow, Gatwick
and Manchester direct to the city.
Although all the National Express coaches stop at the
main Bretonside station, a number of services also call
at smaller bus stops in the Plymouth area, including Marsh
Mills [map] and Milehouse [map],
which may be more convenient depending on where you are
staying.
