When it comes to
wining, dining and retiring to the boudoir you’ll
find plenty of places in Oxford that are perfect for a romantic break.
The Victoria House Hotel [map] is the ideal
place for a weekend packed with entertainment as it’s
to be found right in the middle of the city. The hotel
was completely renovated in 2003 and offers stylish
accommodation including en suite rooms and breakfast
in the Haagen Dazs Café on the ground floor
or at the Croissanterie opposite.
Nothing sounds more romantic than the Little Gables
Bed and Breakfast [map] in Wallingford, and this
detached home offers a friendly welcome to couples. The
village has an excellent selection of quiet little pubs
within walking distance, but it’s also close to
the Wallingford Castle ground.
The Oxfordshire Inn [map] in Heathfield Village is a new hotel located in the beautiful
surroundings of a 16th century converted barn. All rooms
are luxurious and some contain four-poster beds and a Jacuzzi. The setting is idyllic with more
than 250 acres of beautiful countryside and woodland surrounding
the hotel, the romantic city of Oxford just a few minutes
drive away and Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds on the
doorstep.
For dining in style treat the one you love to a table
at Baby [map] on Cowley Road. This is a very
stylish and somewhat expensive drinking hole and restaurant.
Enjoy international dishes from the menu and suave
cocktails from the pre-dinner bar.
Gathering accolades from near and far, Le Petit Blanc [map] is a romantic French restaurant that
serves some of the best steak dishes in Oxford. What’s
more, it’s run by celebrity chef Raymond Blanc so you can expect a high quality service and plenty
to choose from on the menu.
