We
don’t like to think that we’ll get ill or
have an accident when we’re on holiday, but if you
do find yourself in trouble and away from home there are
several numbers that could prove essential.
If you need to see a doctor or think you have an illness,
your first port of call should be NHS Direct, who
have trained nurses available to advise you about what
you should do next and if you should go to the emergency
department of the local hospital. NHS Direct can be contacted
on 0845 46 47 and more details can be found at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk.
When you are advised to go to the accident and emergency department or are taken there in an ambulance, you will
probably end up at The Radcliffe Infirmary [map] on Woodstock Road, which is the most central hospital,
or The John Radcliffe Hospital [map] in Headington which has one of the largest accident and
emergency departments in Oxfordshire.
If you need emergency dental treatment you can contact
the Emergency Dental Clinic at Kidlington [map], Kidlington
Health Centre, Oxford Road, on 01865 842609.
