Whether you want to enjoy a night out at the ballet or
get fit and have fun by participating in some gentle dance
steps, you’ll find plenty of opportunities in Oxford.
If you’ve ever watched the Winter Olympics and wished
you could skate as gracefully as the professionals, head
to The Oxford Ice Dance Club, which holds classes
at the Oxford Ice Rink [map] throughout the week.
This is perfect for children and adults who can skate
sufficiently but want to progress to the next level. The
club even has skaters of gold standard who can show you
some impressive moves.
For something a bit different the Asian Culture Centre [map] on Manzil Way, Cowley Road, has a range of dance classes to turn you into a Bollywood performer or at least
to give you the chance to have lots of fun.
Youngsters have plenty of opportunity to enjoy a variety
of dance genres including jazz and hip hop with the Oxford
Youth Dance Association. The majority of classes are
aimed at the nine to 13 year old age bracket but there’s
opportunity to enjoy jazz from the age of five.
Older dancers might fancy popping along to the Oxford
Youth Theatre [map] on Magdalen Road, which offers
opportunities for those aged between 14-25-years-old.
If you enjoy Latin beats and want to meet lots of new
people then it’s time you enjoyed salsa in Oxford.
Salsa is proving extremely popular throughout the town
and companies like Salsaoxford and OnSalsa offer visitors and locals alike the chance to discover
this vibrant and contemporary form of dance for themselves.
