Cinema In Oxford |
 |
 |
Whether you want to see the latest blockbusting Hollywood
movie or like your cinema strictly art house, you’ll
find plenty of venues in Oxford in which to watch your
favourite films in style.
ABC [map], Magdalen Street, is the best place
to see a large-scale action movie as it offers seating
for up to 800 people in multiple screens. Booking in advance
here is advisable as it proves to be one of the most popular
venues in the area.
The ABC Cinema [map] over on George Street,
is little sister to the bigger Magdalen cinema and has
just two screens. The smallest seats just 141 audience
members and is great for seeing limited-release films including the best of the independents.
For foreign films and seasons for the hardened film buff,
head to The Phoenix Cinema [map] on Walton Street. This is an art-house cinema and great for
those who like cult late-night movies. There’s a
small bar which is perfect for a pre-show drink.
For a chance to see some Hollywood favourites and all
the films you missed the first time around head to The
Ultimate Picture Palace [map] on Jeune Street.
