feeling energetic during your stay in Nottingham you may
want to take advantage of the range of sports facilities
the city has to offer. From football pitches and squash
courts to swimming pools and jet skiing, there’s
bound to be a venue to suit your sporting taste.
The city has a number of fitness centres including the Clifton Leisure Centre [map], which has four
badminton courts and a leisure pool with water flumes,
and the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre [map],
which has one of the largest sports halls in the region,
along with an indoor 60m running track and a seven-lane
outdoor track with infield area for long jump, pole-vaulting
and discus.
In addition to these there's Portland Leisure Centre
[map],
which has a 30m swimming pool, a children’s play
area, gym and two squash courts.
Keen swimmers should head to Beechdale Swimming Centre [map] in the Bilborough area of the city, which consists of
a large 25 metre pool, a smaller teaching pool, a leisure
pool with water slides and a diving tank.
Nottingham is also home to the National Water Sports
Centre [map],
where you can have a go at canoeing, sailing and jet skiing,
while the City of Nottingham Tennis Centre [map] is also nearby.
There are also a number of cycle routes heading
out from the city centre into the scenic countryside of
Nottinghamshire, along with around 30 football and rugby
pitches, which are available for hire. Add to this a number
of amateur cricket pitches and the renowned Trent
Bridge, where Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club play, along with an array of local golf courses,
and you’ve got yourself a sports fan’s heaven.
Of course, you could always just opt for the cheapest
form of exercise, walking, because Nottingham city centre
is a fairly compact with plenty of attractions to visit,
so you can get fit while enjoying the views.
