a buzzing nightlife and its fair share of trendy people,
Nottingham is a great place for singletons to find their
dream date. But for those who are too shy to make the first move there is the latest craze called 'Speed Dating', which promises you’ll meet a potential date without even trying. Based on the American phenomenon that has been sweeping the UK, you have the chance to date 20 people in one evening. There are a number of agencies that organise speed dating evenings at venues around the city centre, including SpeedDater that holds events at the Sugar Bar [map] on The Broadway in the swanky Lace Market area. Another venue that holds speed dating events, organised by SlowDating, is Tantra [map] on Victoria Street. However, if you fancy trying your luck at meeting ‘The One’ through the usual methods of trial and error, then Tantra could well be a good place to start, as this cool, laid-back bar comes complete with beds! But if you think that’s a little too forward there are many other crowded bars around the town where you’re bound to bump into other people looking for love. These include Bluu Bar [map] on The Broadway, Brass Monkey [map] on High Pavement and Bar Risa [map] on Canal Street. Those of you looking for a gay partner may want to try Ice [map] on Lower Parliament Street, the hugely popular Central [map] or the Foresters Inn [map], both on Huntingdon Street.
