	There’s plenty of attractions and distractions in Nottingham for locals and visitors to enjoy, but if you’re looking for something a little different why not see what annual events are happening in the city. Some of the highlights on Nottingham’s event calendar include:

Event:	British Silent Cinema Weekend
Date:	8th – 10th April 2005
Description:	Organised by the Broadway Theatre in Nottingham and the British Film Institute, this celebration of silent film will provide an insight into the early days cinema. Each year the festival focuses on a theme and presents films, discussions and social events to educate and inform audiences.

Event:	International Cheerleading Championships
Date:	29th July – 1st August 2005
Description:	Held across two venues, the Nottingham Arena and the University of Nottingham, this event is likely to delight and surprise you. Combing dance and gymnastics with lift and throws to create human pyramids, cheerleading is an exciting combination of danger and pep.

Event:	Riverside Festival
Date:	6th – 7th August 2005
Description:	This is the city’s largest outdoor festival and attracts thousands to Nottingham’s Victoria Embankment. There’s always plenty going on at this festival from the international roots and world music on the main stage to the funfairs and craft stalls.

Event:	Robin Hood Pagent
Date:	22nd – 23rd October 2005
