As Wet Wet Wet once
said ‘love is all around’, and that’s
certainly true in Norwich as this place is packed with
luxury hotels, fine restaurants and attractions that are
perfect for loved-up couples. To set the mood you’ll first have to find a top class hotel with all the little extras that will put you and your other half in the mood for some serious romance. So how about checking into the Marriott Sprowston Manor Hotel [map] on Wroxham Road, which is set in 170 acres of beautiful parkland. Boasting an award-winning health spa, swimming pool, restaurant, café and bar, this place is haven of relaxation, and is sure to score many point with your lover. Alternatively you could try the Ramada Jarvis Norwich [map], which also has good health and leisure facilities, including a swimming pool, steam room and gym. Located just over two miles from central Norwich, this hotel has more than 100 en suite rooms, all with satellite TV. Once you’ve made yourself at home in your hotel room, why not head out into the historic city centre and see some of the sights. To get some quality time alone in beautiful surroundings then head to the Plantation Garden [map], a Victorian paradise just 600 yards from the city centre. Here you can laze in the sunshine or take a stroll along the woodland walkways. Art galleries often seem to be associated with fairytale romances, so maybe you should pay a visit to the city’s main gallery, the Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery [map]. Along with a museum of natural history, Ancient Egypt and Anglo Saxon Norfolk, this place also has collections of British fine and decorative art from the 16th century to the present day. The regularly updated displays include Dutch 17th century oils and the world’s largest collection of British Ceramic teapots. Also worth a visit is the Norwich Gallery [map] at the Norwich School of Art and Design on Redwell Street, which has a changing programme of work by living artists, designers and craft makers. As the evening draws in you’ll want to head off somewhere special for a romantic dinner for two followed by some great entertainment. For a slap-up meal you could try Adlard's Restaurant [map] on Upper St Giles Street, which serves a modern British menu with French influences. The atmosphere here is very relaxed, making it a perfect setting to whisper sweet nothings while tucking into delicious food. Seafood always seems to add a little love to the air, so alternatively you could head to the Loch Fyne Restaurant [map] on St Giles Street, which offers a huge range of fish and seafood, including salmon, swordfish and prawns. Once you’ve finished your slap-up meal you’ll want to finish the night in style, so why not pay a visit to one of Norwich's magnificent theatres, such as the Theatre Royal [map] on Theatre Street, which plays host to touring West End musicals, and international operas and ballets. You can also see some great displays of contemporary dance and drama at the Norwich Playhouse [map] on St Georges Street. The city also has a wide variety of bars and pubs where you can enjoy a few drinks before retiring to your hotel room.
