Sandwich Bars in Norwich |
 |
 |
Norwich is packed
to bursting with trendy sandwich bars, traditional English
cafés and fast food eateries, so if you’re
feeling peckish you won’t have far to go for a hearty
baguette, steaming hot coffee or refreshing smoothie.
Located inside the 15th century Guildhall on Gaol Hill, Caley's Cocoa Café [map] serves a selection of delicious coffees, teas, cold drinks
and snacks. And after you’ve recharged your batteries
in this remarkably relaxed but scenic café,
you can purchase fine chocolate and unique gifts before
heading on your way.
If you head further into the medieval quarter to Tombland,
you’ll find Café Uno [map],
which is part of a national chain of Italian coffee
houses that serve snacks and gorgeous coffees all
day long.
For traditional cooking, including homemade quiche and
cakes, head to Britons Arms Coffee House [map] on Elm Hill, a family run establishment with an excellent
reputation among locals. Set in a delightful 15th century
thatched building in the heart of medieval Norwich; this
café also has a secluded terraced garden and an open fire.
For freshly made sandwiches, salads, pastries,
cakes, and baked potatoes head to Marmalades [map] in the Royal Arcade, which is one of the most popular
lunchtime pit stops in Norwich.
Alternatively, for something a bit different pay a visit
to The Waffle House [map] on St Giles Street, a buzzing café serving
freshly made sweet and savoury Belgian waffles,
along with hot drinks and other snacks.
Other cafés also worth trying include The Refectory
[map] at Norwich Cathedral, where you can enjoy tasty sandwiches,
light lunches and afternoon teas, and The Tree House
[map] on Dove Street, a vegetarian café with a
daily changing menu of soup, salads and main courses.
