in 1997 and houses 14 separate floors crammed with information
including special collections of maps and music as well

geographical areas such as Ireland and Eastern Europe.
However the British Library has a dual role as library
and museum and as such has a number of exhibits on show
all year round. Some of the items on display include the
Diamond Sutra, the earliest dated printed book and a Leonardo
Da Vinci dating from around the 15th century.
The Wellcome Library [map] is another special
collection which has a home in north west London. Information

its past, its present and its social context. The library

provided on your first visit.
In addition to these feature libraries the north west
also over 20 local libraries for the public to use for
reference and lending purposes. These libraries will have
a less comprehensive range of information however most
