Comedy In North West London |
 |
 |
If you’re in the mood for a rib tickling good time
then you could do worse than venturing to north west London.
Here you’ll find that the leafy village of Hampstead
holds many of the comedy cards with two venues dedicated
to the cause of inducing laughter.
At the Hampstead Comedy Club [map] on England’s
Lane comedy comes first so you can expect quality performances
in an intimate atmosphere. With a ‘no frills’
attitude this club has stayed in business for the class
of its international cast of acts who really know the
meaning of side-splitting comedy.
With six years experience the Hampstead Clinic [map] is another good comedy venue whose intimate atmosphere
and quality performances have smile seekers flocking.
Most comedy venues in north west London however, seem
to have a superman style double identity, being somewhere
terribly serious most of the time, then transforming into
havens of hilarity for the odd night or two.
As well as the comedy clubs located on the premises of
drinking dens there’s the Tricycle Theatre [map] which has comedy as part of its programme of events and
the Open Air Theatre [map] in Regent’s park which has seen the likes of Dara
O’Briain and Jimmy Carr play there.
In a warehouse by Camden Lock you’ll find Dingwalls [map],
a live music venue by week night and a Jongleurs comedy venue when the weekend comes. Expect to see the
usual high calibre of comedy performers this chain offers.
If you have a broader view of comedy than a man (or woman)
with a microphone sharing his witty repertoire then you
should head to the Etcetera Theatre [map],
NW1. This venue, in the heart of Camden’s entertainments,
offers a variety of productions and improv nights which
are bound to bring out the laughs.
