Although

The other option would be to dial 999 but this number is only to be used in a true emergency (and not just for transport to the hospital). For non emergencies, the city does have a Walk-In Centre [map] next to the A&E department at Newcastle General Hospital. Here nurses are able to offer advice and treatment on a range of medical topics including emergency contraception, cuts, bites and blood pressure checks. The clinic is open seven days a week until 9:00pm. However if your aliment does not warrant the services of a nurse then a pharmacy could be your best bet. Although they can only dispense a limited range of drugs without a doctor’s prescription, the pharmacists/chemists may be able to provide you with something to help. If your ailment is of a dental nature then you can try Newcastle Dental Hospital’s Emergency Clinic [map] . They have a morning and an afternoon surgery, however the clinic can only see a certain number of cases so it is best to go in the morning. For non urgent cases, there are several dentists in and around the city centre that are able to treat non registered cases but do call first to make sure.
