GO Fine Dining In Newcastle

Fine Dining in Newcastle Upon Tyne Newcastle and fine dining are two terms that many would not think to put together, these however, are the people who will be missing out on the range of fine dining experiences Newcastle has to offer.

Although no longer the proud owner of a Michelin star, Cafe 21 [map] continues its tradition of top quality food. Located close to the Quayside, you'll find this chic little bistro has a great menu that encompasses all colours of the culinary spectrum, from vegetarians to committed carnivores. Expect to find dishes like terrine of ham knuckle and foie gras with pease pudding, and peppered venison steak with wild mushrooms & celeriac, on the menu, as well as some seriously tasty treats for dessert, all served with an air of cosmopolitan sophistication.

As you would expect from a restaurant called the Fisherman's Lodge [map], seafood takes a starring role on the menu. But fish and other sea based finds are not the only foods to grace this menu as meat and vegetarian dishes also feature. Built amidst the greenery of Jesmond Dene, this slightly out of town eatery serves exciting modern British creations worthy of a discerning palate.

The Quayside location of Malmaison [map] offers terrific views of the Millennium Bridge and Baltic Centre but you shouldn't let that distract you from what the restaurant has to offer. Inside you'll find Malmaison’s decor sumptuous but sophisticated, while the menu boasts French-influenced culinary combinations that are both contemporary and simple.

Treacle Moon [map] is the uniquely named Quayside eatery popular with couples wanting an intimate dining experience. The award-winning menu draws from “French classical cuisine tempered with flavours of the Orient” and includes dishes such as Monkfish wrapped in Parma Ham with New Potatoes and Saffron sauce, and Rich Dark Bittersweet Chocolate Tart with Clotted Cream.

Meanwhile at The Rooftop Restaurant [map] on the Gateshead side of the quay, you may find yourself with the dilemma of deciding which is finer, the food or the spectacular views. The restaurant is located on the sixth floor of the Baltic Art Gallery giving great views across the city, while the menu offers the height of contemporary dining from the famed McCoy kitchen. As you might expect, you’ll almost certainly need to book well in advance to enjoy this dining experience!
