GO Restaurants In Manchester

Restaurants in Manchester Whether you’re after a taste of the Orient, fine Asian cuisine, something a little out of the ordinary or just good old pie and chips, Manchester has a restaurant to suit everyone’s taste buds.

There are hundreds of eateries to choose from in the heart of the city, from lavish hotel restaurants to trendy café-bars, and there are plenty more in Manchester’s neighbouring town and villages. So here are some suggestions for places to grab a bite to eat in the North West’s premier city.

For starters why not try out the mean burgers at the hugely popular American diner, Hard Rock Café [map], which is located in the fantastic Printworks complex. With an enormous 80-feet high neon electric guitar outside it’s hard to miss this famous restaurant, which is part of the worldwide chain. Like the Hard Rock Cafes in London, Milan and New York, this one has American rock memorabilia adorning its walls and it has a no-nonsense Tex-Mex menu. There is also a Hard Rock shop where you can buy branded merchandise, from pin badges to baseball caps and jackets.

Another must when it comes to eating out in Manchester are the restaurants in Chinatown, which is the world’s third largest behind San Francisco and Vancouver. Among the most popular eateries here are, Pearl City [map] , with its distinctive neon-lit entrance, and Yang Sing [map], which offers a great dim sum selection.

Manchester is also famous for its Indian food so the Curry Mile in Rusholme cannot go without a mention on this page. Here’s where you’ll find a large cluster of restaurants, including Indian, Turkish and Iranian, which are among the best of their kind in Britain.

But for a truly unique Asian dining experience, try the Mongolian Barbeque [map] in the city centre, which offers Mongolia food made using cooking practices from the times of Genghis Khan.

If you need a welcome break from a day’s shopping or sightseeing then head for one of Manchester’s many sandwich bars and coffee shops, including locally-owned Java Bar Espresso [map].

For a cup of traditional English tea then head out of town to Didsbury where you’ll find the Bumbles Tea Rooms. Situated on an old cobbled street this wonderful little teashop comes complete with low wooden-beamed ceilings and was even featured in the English Tea Trail book.

If it’s an evening of fine dining you’re planning then you’ll be spoilt for choice in Manchester with many restaurants that have become a must on the celebrity scene, including Reform and The Living Room [map] .

Or for a slap up meal than can only be rivalled in London then head to the Zinc Bar and Grill [map] in the Triangle leisure complex, which is Terence Conran’s first restaurant outside the capital.

For a nice meal that doesn’t cost the earth head to one of the city’s all-you-can-eat buffet eateries, including the No 1 Oriental Buffet Restaurant [map]. This hugely popular venue offers more than 60 different starters, main courses and sweets from various types of Chinese cuisine.

Another popular restaurant that has a reasonable priced menu is La Tasca [map] on Deansgate, which has a good choice of tapas and paella.

So whatever you fancy to eat, you’ll find what you’re looking for among Manchester’s delightful mix of chic, traditional and unique restaurants.
