Luxury Hotels in Manchester |
 |
 |
When it comes to
luxury, Manchester is one of the best places to stay in
the country with the wide range of deluxe accommodation
it has to offer. From stylish hotels in the city centre
and at Manchester Airport, to beautiful waterfront lodges
on The Quays, this city is the perfect place to spend
a relaxing no-expenses-spared break.
If you fancy combining a slice of the city’s history
with a top quality hotel then you should book a room at
the famous Crowne Plaza Manchester [map],
(or The Midland as it is more commonly known). This dramatic
red-bricked Edwardian landmark overlooks the imposing
Central Library on St Peter’s Square and offers
all the comforts of a four star hotel, including the lavishly
decorated Queen and Presidential suites.
Another of Manchester’s four star hotels, the Portland
Thistle [map] on Piccadilly Gardens, offers a classic 19th century exterior
with a modern, well-designed interior. Located just five
minutes from Piccadilly Station, this hotel is great for
celebrity watchers as it has become a firm favourite with
touring pop stars on their visit to Manchester.
Other expensive hotels in the city centre include the Britannia [map],
which occupies a wonderful Grade II listed building on
Portland Street and has various bars and restaurants linked
to it.
There is also the Malmaison Hotel [map],
which has brought a touch of contemporary urban living
to Piccadilly with its highly distinctive and sculptured
exterior.
If you want to be close to Manchester’s nightlife
but still enjoy the quality of a four star hotel then
the Renaissance [map] is probably what you’re looking for. This trendy
15-storey hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of the
city’s lively entertainment quarter, just off Deansgate
and offers great views of Manchester’s skyline.
For a luxury hotel with a difference why not try the Victoria
and Albert [map] in Castlefield, which is situated so close to Granada
Studios that it has even incorporated some of the TV company’s
top programmes into its décor. Everything from
Coronation Street to Cracker is celebrated on the hotel
walls and each room has something extra, for example,
modem data points for business clients to Playstations
for tourists.
If that doesn’t suit your taste, how about staying
at one of Manchester’s newest and most luxurious
hotels?
The Lowry [map] sits next to the imposing Trinity Bridge on the banks
of the River Irwell and includes the lavish Marco Pierre
White restaurant, which is a popular attraction in its
own right. Along with the urban chic interior, the hotel
has a wide range of quality extras, including a hairdresser,
24-hour room service, computer facilities, solarium, whirlpool
and a fitness club.
Another deluxe waterfront hotel is the four star Copthrorne
Manchester Hotel on Salford Quays, which is just two
miles from the city centre.
All rooms offer the latest facilities and most of the
have beautiful waterside views. The hotel also has a swimming
pool and sauna.
If you’re staying close to Manchester Airport then
there are a few luxury hotels to choose from, including
the Forte Posthouse. Situated inside
the airport complex, the Forte Posthouse is mainly used
by business visitors, although tourists are catered for.
Each room comes with an interactive TV and pay-to-view
movies, while the hotel also has a swimming pool, sauna
and a fitness club.
