If you’re
after a comfy bed, delicious breakfast and a bright smile
during you stay in the city, then check in to one of Manchester’s
guest houses and make the most of the friendly service.
The city may have catapulted itself into the 21st century
with new chic bars, trendy apartments and state-of-the-art
tourist attractions, but some things never change –
and the warm welcome at a Mancunian guest house is certainly
one of them.
Most of the guest houses are located on the outskirts
of the city centre, but are usually on a good bus/tram/train
route into the heart of Manchester.
For a comfortable, no frills place to stay then book your
room at the Bentley Guest House in Blackley,
which has three bedrooms and secure off-road parking for
guests. Located just 15 minutes from the main tourist
areas, the friendly owners are always on hand to point
you in the right direction so you don’t miss anything
that Manchester has to offer.
Also simple but reliable is the All Seasons Guest House
[map] in Wythenshawe, a Victorian house set in beautiful
gardens with five en suite rooms. Each room is equipped
with a colour TV and coffee and tea making facilities
and the house is just 15 minutes from the city centre.
For a taste of life in a bustling Manchester village,
the Friendly Guest House in Didsbury is a great
place to stay. The newly modernised guest house has two
spacious bedrooms, one with en suite facilities, and a
very friendly service. Although it is only 10 minutes
from the centre, Didsbury has its own attractions, such
as Didsbury Park, and a real community feel.
If you want to stay a little further out of town why not
head for the up-and-coming village of Chorlton, where
you’ll find the Kempton House Hotel [map].
This small family-run Edwardian guest house has ten bedrooms,
six with en suite facilities, and a bar and restaurant
on site. It is only ten minutes from the central tourist
areas.
And if you just want to get away from city life completely
why not head out to the breathtaking Saddleworth Moors,
where you can enjoy the peace and quiet in the tiny village
of Delph. Here you’ll find the Globe Farm Guesthouse,
a converted 18th century coach house with amazing views
and 14 en suite bedrooms. The house is only a stone’s
throw away from the moors and there are plenty of neighbouring
villages, such as Uppermill, where you can visit the museum
or feed the ducks on the canal.
Whether you’re after a cheap country retreat or
family-orientated accommodation in the city, there’s
a guest house in Manchester that’s just for you.
