Fancy a bit of celeb watching while enjoying a gourmet meal? Then
you’re in luck because Manchester has a selection of top-notch
restaurants that even TV stars can’t get enough of. From classy
hotel restaurants to snazzy little brassieres in the centre of town,
Manchester has got some of the finest restaurants in Britain –
so here are just a few to whet your appetite.
If French food is what you’re after then you’ll
be spoilt for choice in Manchester, as there’s a huge selection
of restaurants offering Parisian cuisine, including Chandlers
and Le Petit Blanc.
Chandlers [map]
on the other hand is an upmarket restaurant located at the Copthorne
Hotel on the city’s designer dockland, Salford Quays. The restaurant
offers a wide selection of modern, classical and seasonal French food,
and an extensive wine list that finishes off the classy menu perfectly.
Back in the city centre you’ll find Le
Petit Blanc [map],
a fantastic little brassiere-style eatery opened by world-renowned
chef Raymond Blanc, which offers all his signature dishes.
For fine dining with a difference why not head to the Urbis museum
in the Millennium Quarter, which has a wonderful restaurant, Le
Mont [map],
offering modern French food and stunning views of the city centre.
Those of you looking for speciality British cuisine made by an award-winning
chef should try the River Restaurant [map]
at Manchester’s swanky Lowry Hotel. This contemporary fine dining
establishment is run by executive chef Eyck Zimmer, who has more than
40 awards to his name.
If gourmet pizza is more your style then the hugely popular The
Grinch [map]
will suit you down to the ground. Here you can enjoy high quality
food, including their famous pizzas and pastas and a great selection
of deserts, along with live jazz and blues music at weekends.
Another top of the range pizzeria is Croma
[map],
from the creators of the famous Pizza Express restaurant chain, which
offers a stylish array of pizzas and pastas.
For fine English dining why not try The
Living Room [map]
on Deansgate, which has a distinctly Edwardian look complete with
a jazz band, champagne cocktails and great food.
Or there’s the Atlas Bar
[map]
just off the highly trendy Deansgate Locks, which offers a contemporary
menu that is rather pricey but very popular.
If you don’t mind heading out of town then why not pay a visit
to the Michelin-starred Juniper [map]
in nearby Altrincham, an innovative restaurant serving an eight-course
gourmet banquet among other delights.
So whether it's champagne and caviar or gourmet pizza and pasta, Manchester
has just what you’re looking for when you want to push the boat
out and enjoy some fine cuisine.
