Accomodation in Manchester |
 |
 |
From Edwardian
splendour and Victorian charm to urban chic and state-of-the-art
designs, there is more choice than ever these days when
it comes to finding accommodation in Manchester. If you’re
planning on splashing out during your break then look
no further than right in the heart of the city where you’ll
find a selection of luxury hotels to choose from.
Why not book a room at the spectacular Edwardian-built Crowne Plaza [map] (or The Midland as it is also known) and live like the
Royals in the Queen or Presidential suites.
Alternatively you could mix with the stars at the imposing Portland Thistle Hotel [map] or opt for the more contemporary style of the popular Malmaison Hotel [map] on Piccadilly.
If you’re just planning to stay for a night or two
and want to make the most of the eateries around the city,
then go for the Ibis [map] or Premier Lodge. You don’t get breakfast
as part of the deal but they are perfectly located on
Portland Street and Deansgate if you’re heading
out for a night on the town.
For those of you on a budget,
fear not, there are plenty of places offering simple,
reliable and comfortable accommodation at bargain prices.
Why not try the Monton House Hotel [map] situated in the southern suburb of Monton, where rooms
start at just £30 a night.
If your budget can’t even stretch to that then join
the Youth Hostelling Association because Manchester
has a great hostel in the city centre, which has lots
of extras and caters for families.
To escape the hectic city life why not opt for a rural
retreat where you can recharge your batteries before
heading out to face the world again.
The Marriott
Hotel and Country Club [map] in Worsley is a good one to try because it’s not
too far from central Manchester but far enough away to
avoid the hustle and bustle. It’s got an 18-hole
golf course and a fitness club to help you unwind as well
as 200 acres of woodland to discover.
If you would prefer to stay in a traditional B&B or guest house then you
won’t be disappointed as there is a wealth of options
to choose from.
For B&Bs try the Commercial Hotel [map] in Castlefield, which boasts the Science and Industry
Museum and Granada Studios among its neighbours. Or for
a classic guest house go for the appropriately named Friendly
Guest House [map] in the delightful village of Didsbury.
Finally, you could give yourself the freedom to enjoy
more of the city’s restaurants and cafés
by opting for self-catering accommodation.
There is a selection of great apartments in the city centre,
including The Place Apartments Hotel or the Howard
Johnson Service Apartments, which both offer spacious
flats on very short-term leases.
