When
you think of romance Leeds doesn’t initially spring
to mind, but don’t let that stop you. If you’re
looking for a break away to seduce a loved one this city
has a surprising array of romantic venues and accommodation
from which to do your wooing.
Leeds stands at the very foot of The Yorkshire Dales and is a window to some breathtaking scenery. There are
also a number of stately homes nearby such as the impressive Harewood House [map] and Temple Newsam [map].
If you’re celebrating an anniversary or honeymoon
a visit to the luxurious Quebec Hotel [map] on Quebec Street is a must. A five star hotel with 45
individually styled and decorated rooms, this really is
the last word in romance. All rooms are en suite and include
those little touches of style that really make your stay
complete, including Molton Brown toiletries and complimentary
water and fruit.
If you’re looking for an intimate lunch, you can’t
go wrong at Paris [map] – where else? – located in the Rodley area
of Leeds. Here you’ll find a light and airy conservatory
offering continental style and an impressive, yet affordable,
menu along with and a huge wine list.
Get cosy at The Arts Café [map] on Call Lane, where you’ll find a relaxed and comfortable
atmosphere amongst some of the best art in the region.
In the evening comfortable becomes classy with an a la
carte menu and low lighting.
If you’re keen to spoil yourself pay a visit to 42 The Calls [map], which overlooks the lovely Leeds
canal and is perfect for leisurely strolling. This is
one of the most fashionable restaurants and hotels in
the area and frequented by local celebrities.
Alternatively if the weather’s fine get out and
about and take a picnic to Kirstall’s famous Abbey
[map] or Roundhay Park [map] and soak up the sunshine.
If you fancy a bit of cultural romance in the evening
why not see the latest production by Opera North [map],
the world-famous Phoenix Dance Company [map],
or The Northern Ballet [map] who all regularly showcase their performances in Leeds.
