Guesthouses in
North West London are usually found in leafy residential
areas close to the action but far enough away for you
to be able to wind down at the end of the day.
At the luxury end of the guesthouse scale is the Langorf
Hotel [map],
NW3. With its large, well equipped rooms and personal
service you could be forgiven for thinking that you are
staying in one of the West End’s classy accommodations.
But guests love the Langorf Hotel because for all the
comforts you receive it's still value for money.
A charming Victorian retreat awaits you at the Buckland
Hotel [map],
Swiss Cottage, NW3. This hotel has rooms ranging from
single to family all located in a residence on a tree-lined
crescent, close to famous local pubs and Hampstead Heath.
Over in North London one guesthouse that provides comfort
particularly well is the Kandara Guest House [map],
which has been awarded three diamonds from the English
Tourist Board. Having years of experience in providing
visitors to the area with accommodation means you can
be confident of getting the facilities you need at an
affordable price.
Ossian Guest House [map] aims to provide accommodation that’s elegant with
a relaxing atmosphere. This is done partly through the
hospitality of your hosts and partly through the features
in the house. All the rooms are fitted with interesting
antique pieces but all the rooms have en suite bathrooms
(one with a Jacuzzi) and the beds are dressed with luxury
cotton sheets.
East London has a selection of guesthouses providing a
warm East End welcome.
Conveniently located just off the A11 and close to South
Woodford tube station the Grove Hill Hotel [map] provides comfortable accommodation conducive for getting
out and about in east London and beyond. The Tudor style
Grove Hill Hotel is open all year round and has all the
creature comforts you need including satellite TV and
trouser press in your room with a bar and onsite parking.
Located on Lonsdale Road in Leytonstone, Sunningdale
hotel [map] is an east London guesthouse where children are welcome,
parking is available and special diets are catered for
– as well as being value for money. In the South
East head to Lewisham first for some fine traditional
accommodation.
If you want to discover the tourist spots that nobody
but the locals know about, check into one of the many
family-run places like Manna House [map], Hither
Green Lane, Lewisham. This is located in a typical residential
area and is particularly appealing to visitors from overseas
who can see the suburbs that wouldn’t be available
to view in a busy London hotel.
The south west of London is encapsulated in very English
guesthouses such as The Windsor Hotel [map],
Earls Court, SW5, which is a family run hotel that has
existed for more than 40 years. The hotel is a beautiful
Victorian building, which has retained its charm and many
original features over the years.
Set in one of London’s quieter residential streets The Abcone Hotel [map],
Ashburn Gardens, SW7, gives customers the chance to enjoy
peace and quiet whilst being close to major travel links
including the Gloucester Road underground station.
In the very heart of London, Bloomsbury is one of the
best places to find both bed and breakfast accommodation
and privately owned guesthouses. Home to a variety of
publishing giants and independent bookshops, this literary
district has a central location and a range of comfortable
overnight accommodation.
Try the Ivanhoe Suites [map],
Barrett Street Piazza, for an unusual stay. With a fully
equipped gym and great value rooms this seven-bedroom
hotel also benefits from a delightful Mediterranean atmosphere,
which is helped by the al fresco dining feature.
Head to Argyle Street for a range of accommodation. Find
traditional comfort at The Jesmond Dene Hotel [map].
This friendly family-run hotel offers visitors a range
of facilities and has some of the best tourist locations
right on its doorstep.
Particularly appealing to those travelling in groups,
West London is where you’ll find the larger guesthouses. The Shakespeare Hotel [map],
Norfolk Square, Paddington, W2, offers a range of facilities
to ensure that your stay is pleasurable. Two comfortable
lounges offer relaxing views over The Shakespeare’s
pretty garden and guests are welcome to enjoy a soft drink,
coffee or light snack at any time of the day.

Sussex Gardens, Bayswater, W21, is a family run bed and
breakfast hotel based in two Victorian town houses. Close
