shopping centre [map] is the biggest city centre development in Scotland,
covering an area of 600,000 square feet.
It opened in 1998 at the top end of Buchanan Street, next
to the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and has been a ‘must
visit’ with serious shoppers ever since. Perfectly
positioned right beside rail, underground and bus stations,
the centre attracts visitors from all over Scotland –
if not the UK. And with its very own award-winning
2,000 space car park only minutes from the M8
it is easy to get to by car.
The main attraction here is undoubtedly John Lewis Department
Store but the centre has around 80 other high street shops
including Next, Boots, Habitat and H&M. This shopping
centre is well designed with stores split over four levels,
giving you the space and comfort to shop at leisure.
And once you’ve shopped ‘til you dropped you
can tuck into lunch, or relax with frothy coffee at one
of the many eateries the centre has on offer.
In addition to the trendy cafés in John Lewis and
Habitat, the food gallery on the second
floor offers a variety of foods including jacket potatoes,
sandwich and classic fast food at Burger King.
For those of you thinking of taking the little ones along,
you’ll be pleased to know there is a crèche
available for children aged between two and eight-years-old,
which is staffed by fully qualified nursery assistants.
It operates a hi-tech parent pager system and boasts an
Adventure Play Structure, Ball Pool and Slide, Non Violent
PC and Play Station Games, Toys, Games and Home Corner.
