Fine Dining In Glasgow |
 |
 |
If you want to
splash out on some excellent cuisine during your stay
in Glasgow there’s plenty of venues offering a high-class
menu.
There’s a lot in a name and it’s easy to guess
that Cosmopol [map] is a cut above many other restaurants. Located on Hope
Street, and right in the heart of Glasgow’s financial
district, this modern European restaurant is frequented
by businesspeople who enjoy the eclectic menu, which
includes roasted sweet pimento, haggis pakora and Paris
brown mushrooms. The restaurant also offers a pre-theatre
menu for those hoping to enjoy a truly decadent evening.
Glasgow has lots of famous names around and one you can
always count on for a slice of exotic cuisine is Malmaison
[map].
The brasserie is located in the crypt of the Malmaison
Hotel at West George Street. The restaurant has an excellent
reputation for offering fabulous French cuisine and there’s
plenty of classics on offer as well as some unusual fusion
food. So why not soak up the dark and luxurious surroundings
and dine here by candlelight.
One of Glasgow’s most popular restaurants is The
Ubiquitous Chip [map] on Ashton Lane. Having occupied a place in the area’s
dining scene for the past 30 years, The Chip has won many
awards including a Red M from Michelin. This place is
worth visiting for the choice of 150 whiskies alone,
but most people flock here for the excellent seafood on
offer and the game specialities.
If you want a simple place to enjoy good food head to Yes [map] on West Nile Street, which is favoured by business professionals.
The restaurant offers Scottish cuisine with a Mediterranean
twist and there’s also a café bar upstairs
for pre-dinner or post-dinner drinks. Adventurous types
should order the special surprise menu that consists of
four courses of whatever the chef fancies on that particular
day.
For another taste of Scotland head to Cameron’s
[map] at the Glasgow Hilton on William Street, which offers
exquisite and traditional dining in a décor of
wood panelling and marble columns. Go for the six-course
Taste of Scotland to get a real idea about the quality
this restaurant cooks up.
Contemporary Scottish cuisine is also on the menu at Bouzy
Rouge [map] on West Regent Street. This romantic candle-lit venue is owned by the award-winning Brown family,
who also have restaurants in Airdie and Edinburgh. This
is a great venue for family dining and gets busy very
quickly so do book well in advance.
