Glasgow International
Airport [map] is the busiest of Scotland's three main international
airports, handling more than 7.9 million passengers a
year.
It lies eight miles west of Glasgow city and is within
easy reach of the rest of Scotland, with principal access
off junction 28 of the M8 motorway.
The airport charters direct flights to many key business
and holiday destinations including, London, Rome, New
York, Dubai, Dominican Republic, Prague and Tenerife.
On arrival at the airport you will find there are numerous
facilities to help make your journey a pleasant, relaxed
and fun experience. Among these are children’s play
areas and puzzle tables to keep the kids busy, work spaces
with payphone, payfax and modem facilities for business
travellers, and a wealth of shops and restaurants.
Both before security and after you’ll find an array
of high street shops and boutiques offering designer brands,
including Boots, Dixon’s, Accessorize, The Body
Shop and the World Duty Free store.
Restaurants and sandwich bars include Garfunkel’s,
Burger King, O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bar,
Starbucks and Caffe Nero, which are located in the two
terminal buildings.
Getting to and from the airport…
By Taxi
Airport taxis are available 24 hours a day to any destination
and any distance and the fares are charged on the meter.
The fare to Glasgow city centre from the airport is approximately
£17.
The taxi rank is located at the front of the terminal
building, a short walk from UK arrivals. Here you’ll
find a taxi booking office run by the management company Cab Fly.
With the exception of pre-booked hires, all taxis must
pick up from the designated taxi rank and must hold
a Glasgow Airport permit. All drivers should provide
courteous service and will agree to undertake short
journeys.

All public buses depart from the front of the terminal
building, while charter coaches pick up and drop off
passengers at the short stay coach park on Bute Road, adjacent to international arrivals.
There are frequent public services to Glasgow city centre
operated by Citylink and Fairline as the
combined 905 service.
There are various bus stops on the route from the airport
to the city including some close to Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations and Buchanan
bus station.
