Business
meetings don’t have to be a chore especially if
you choose the right surroundings and in Edinburgh you’ll
find such a variety of venues that there’s no doubt
you’ll be mixing business with pleasure.
In terms of getting there, Edinburgh is well connected
with its own airport less than half an hour from
the city centre. There are flights five times a day to
and from London and a regular service from many
of the major cities within the UK. The airport also has
direct flights from Europe and the USA including Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels and New
York.
Edinburgh also has good road and rail links from other Scottish cities and is well served from England
as well.
Once in the city you will find a number of business facilities
which should meet all your needs.
The Apex International hotel [map] combines comfort and convenience with 175 rooms, two restaurants
and a business centre all under one roof. There
are six separate meeting spaces and in contrast
to its Old Town location the rooms are airy with a contemporary
feel.
For modern executive style in the heart of the city centre
the Point Hotel [map] is a good choice. As well as its own bar and restaurant this impressive hotel boasts a penthouse conference
suite with stunning views across the city.
Larger meetings and conferences are also catered for in
the city centre with the Edinburgh International Conference
Centre [map].
Press conferences, exhibitions, workshops and dinner dances
have all been held here since its opening 10 years ago.
Other business services available in Edinburgh are the Business Library, part of the National Library
of Scotland [map] on George IV Bridge and the Edinburgh Convention Bureau
[map]
(ECB), part of the tourist board dedicated to assisting
with business venues and accommodation.
