Romantic in East London |
 |
 |
If turning the
lights down low, putting on a Barry White CD and tucking
into takeaway pizza are no longer working for you in the
romance department, you may want to sample some of East
London’s haunts for the love struck to revamp your
repertoire.
If romance to your partner equates to cash intensive
displays of affection then you should be able to satisfy
them without having to leave east London.
You could take him/her to one of the many galleries in the area and buy them a painting of their choice. You
could then treat them to an Italian feast at the exquisitely
elegant Quadrato [map] restaurant, moving upstairs after dinner to a suite in
east London’s finest hotel, the Four Seasons [map].
However not everyone’s budget can stretch that
far, so if you want to be romantic without breaking
the bank you could try one or two of the following suggestions.
You could spend the day exploring St Katherine’s
Dock – walking along the banks of the
Thames, taking in the views across south London, eating
alfresco at the Riverside Bistro and
buying flowers at City Flowers and Gifts.
Or you could spend the day at Canary Wharf [map].
Although on a work day the area is a sea of city types
in suits, it does have some great bars and restaurants
where you can cavort and converse - including the tres
trendy Japanese restaurant, Ubon [map].
It is also home to Cabot Hall which hosts a number
of evening entertainments including comedy and music.
In the evening you could whisk your partner off to the Sunborn Yacht Hotel [map],
a floating hotel which has all the class of the finest
cruise liner – and if that doesn’t impress
them…good luck!
