Travelling to the
Welsh capital by air has never been so easy, as more flights
than ever are now arriving at Cardiff International Airport [map]. The airport, which is situated 12 miles from the city centre and 10 miles from junction 33 of the M4, is well signposted on major roads around Cardiff.
A number of airlines, including BMI Baby, KLM and Ryanair, offer regular direct flights from UK and European cities, such as London, Palma, Milan, Paris and Faro. There are also flights further a field to America and Canada.
Cardiff Airport has a wide range of facilities for passengers including eateries, such as The Food Village and Burger King, a number of shops, such as Bag Boutique, a bureau de change, game zones and special babycare rooms.
Long and short stay car parks are available on site, and in the arrivals hall you’ll find a selection of car hire firms, including Hertz and Avis.
Getting to and from the airport…
Cardiff Air Taxis, the official taxi operator for the airport, has a taxi desk located within the arrivals hall. You can simply hop into a taxi on arrival, or you can book your journey in advance by calling +44 (0) 1446 710693. The fare to Cardiff city centre costs approximately £18.
The service offers uniformed drivers, large executive cars for business travellers, people carriers and wheelchair accessible vehicles. There is no extra cost if your flight is delayed and the company accept various payment methods such as credit cards and Euros.
The Airbus X91, X45 and 345 services operate between the airport and Cardiff city centre every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, between the hours 7:00am and 7:00pm, and then every hour between 7:30pm and 10:30pm.
The X5 service operates hourly on Sundays between 8:00am and 9:30pm and the journey time to Cardiff from the airport is approximately 40 minutes. The fare costs around £2.70. |
