Train Travel in Cambridge

Cambridge’s train station [map] can be found at Station Road and is a 25 minute walk away from the city centre.

However, it is well served by a taxi rank directly outside of the station, where you can hail a black cab.

West Anglia Great Northern rail services bring commuters to and from London via Liverpool Street and King’s Cross, so if you’re looking for a day out to the capital during your stay in Cambridge this is the transport for you.

It is a good idea to stay clear of these trains during commuter times though (Monday to Friday early morning and early evening) as these trains are extremely full and you’ll be very lucky to get a seat.

Direct trains are also available to and from Birmingham, Bury St Edmunds, Ely, Ipswich, King’s Lynn, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newmarket, Nottingham, Norwich, Peterborough and Sheffield. You can also change at Peterborough for trains to Doncaster, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

For more information about West Anglia Great Northern services visit the official website.
