| Bargain hunters
and those that know an antique or two when they see one
will be delighted with the selection of shops available
in Cambridge.
Books and Collectables Ltd [map] is a wonderful shop which boasts Cambridge’s largest selection of secondhand books. If you’re
keen to find that first edition or “signed by the
author” classic, you might just be in luck.
The range includes literature, film, biography, topography,
politics, law, and books covering almost every other genre.
There’s also a large list of magazines, sport and
theatre programmes, newspapers, pamphlets, cigarette cards
and stamps. Here you will also find an antique corner that deals in fine furniture, glass, porcelain and
jewellery.
The Dales Brewery [map] at Gwydir Street might
sound like the place to pick up some original ale, but
it now hosts a variety of shops and businesses. Here you’ll
be able to find Gwydir Street Antiques as well
as Willroy Antiques. This is a great place to spend
a few hours as there’s much to discover and uncover.
Fisher Hall [map] is situated next to the Red Cow pub and just around the
corner from the Tourist Information Centre. Fisher Hall
is a big indoor market offering a range of services
including a regular book fair. Check the signs outside
the hall to see what’s on offer on the day of your
visit and you might be able to pick up a real bargain
from the bric-a-brac stall or an unusual antique.
