GO Theatre In Cambridge

Theatre in Cambridge If you want to do something really special during your stay in Cambridge, get dressed up and head to one of its award-winning theatres and you won’t be disappointed.

Entertainment reigns at The Cambridge Corn Exchange [map]. This impressive building on Wheeler Street is the biggest venue in the area and the best place to see touring West End musicals and cabaret on a large scale. Offering something for the whole family it’s the ideal after-dinner venue when you simply want to enjoy yourself.

The ADC Theatre [map] is the place for lively new drama and comedy from some of Cambridge University’s freshest young talent. Based on Park Street this venue offers year-round entertainment including new writing and performances from Cambridge students as well as an impressive list of visiting companies.

The Cambridge Arts Theatre [map] offers a varied programme of comedy and drama, and you might just see a few famous faces in the productions here. Playing a large part in the local community the Cambridge Arts Theatre offers free talks and discussions as well as drama workshops and summer schools for youngsters.

If you’ve fancied treading the boards yourself, see what’s happening at the Cambridge Drama Centre [map] during your visit. Based at Mill Road, the centre provides theatre, acting and singing lessons and is also a great place to see new and alternative performances.

Those in search of the stars of tomorrow should make a bee-line for The Playroom [map], an intimate venue for a wide selection of new and familiar productions. What makes this place so special is that every other Tuesday, The Footlights comedy club, which consists of Cambridge’s finest funny men and women, showcase their latest sketches and stand-up. Entertainment luminaries such as Emma Thompson, Rowan Atkinson and Michael Palin cut their teeth here and are testament to the quality of performances.
