GO Sport in Cambridge

Sport in Cambridge You don’t have to be a world-class sports star to enjoy the range of ways to get fit and healthy in Cambridge – just ask Cambridge City Football Club.

With loyal supporters and an intriguing history the club have a long way to go before making it into the Premiership but can still guarantee a game full of excitement if you head along to see them play at the Abbey Stadium [map].

What makes Cambridge such a sporting city is its commitment to community and its pledge to involve everyone in fun activities.

If you want to see some of tomorrow’s sporting stars today, look out for some great events hosted by students of the University of Cambridge [map].

Alternatively, ease into sport gently and head to the Parkside Swimming Pool [map] on Gonville Place, which is a great place for water babies of all ages. Take a dip in the heated junior pool or go whirling and swirling down the Zoom Flume and Blue Lagoon rides.

Fancy a flutter? Cambridge happens to have Newmarket Racecourse [map] on its very doorstep and offers a great place to enjoy all the sights and sounds of one of the UK’s oldest racecourses. Everyone from families to Royalty frequent this racecourse and you’re likely to spot a celebrity or two.

For a peaceful getaway Cambridge and its surrounding area has many excellent golf courses for all the family to enjoy. With one of the most distinctive names in golf course history, the Gog Magog Golf Course [map] in Shelford Bottom, the area continues to lead the way in exclusive clubs. This course is only for serious golfers and a handicap certificate is required before you are allowed to play, but for those who make it onto the hallowed turf there’s spectacular views across Cambridge city to accompany your game.
