When it’s time to treat your youngsters, you’ll find plenty of exciting places and activities to stop them feeling bored in Bristol.
Children will have great fun learning about the environment at Explore At Bristol [map], Anchor Road, Harbourside, which is one of the UK’s best interactive science centres. There’s at least a day’s worth of activity to be had here including moving water uphill, stimulating your senses or running in a giant hamster wheel. You can also explore your brain and body, investigate forces and patterns in the world around us, and communicate using the latest digital technologies. There's also the Imaginarium, which takes visitors on journeys through the universe.
For an extra special event why not take the children up, up, and away in a hot air balloon and enjoy a hamper picnic as you all look down on the famous sights of Bristol. Bailey Balloons, Ham Green and Pill, offer a specialist hot air balloon service complete with crew.
Arty children will relish the chance to decorate their own ceramics at Make Your Mark, on Whiteladies Road. Parents can relax in the café whilst youngsters make a special gift, or personalise their own plates and mugs.
A firm favourite with kids in Bristol has always been Bristol Zoo Gardens [map]. There are more than 300 exotic and endangered species to discover here, as well as the Reptile House, Penguin Coast, Gorilla Island and Bug World. There are also plenty of places to grab lunch and buy ice creams.
If you long for a bit of peace and quiet take the kids to the I-Max Cinema, Harbourside, where they’ll be overawed as they stare in wonder at the enormous screen and enjoy a totally different movie experience.
