Sometimes you wake up in the morning and feel like your head has been bunged up with plasticine - it's at times like these when you really need a pick-me-up, whether it be a caffeine hit, a fry-up or a healthy fruit smoothie. Thankfully, there are a few places in Bristol that will help you in your hour of need.
The aptly named The Friary [map] is perfect for those in search of a great breakfast. Popular with the local student fraternity, this relaxed café can be found at Cotham Hill. Tuck into a fry up with all the trimmings and let your troubles ease away to the sound of reggae music.
If you long for some fresh air and smooth jazz perhaps BSB Waterside [map] is calling to you. Located in the trendy U Shed on Canons Road, this minimalist bar/restaurant offers diners the chance to enjoy an al fresco breakfast and listen to some Sunday evening mellow jazz.
Those with time to kill should head to Lunchout Coffee Shop [map] on Jamaica Street, that has an “open until the owner gets tired” policy, which means you are welcome to laze around all day supping one of the many coffees or snacks on offer. The walls are adorned with artwork that members of the public can buy and this gives the décor a unique feel.
An equally laid back place can be found at Blue Juice [map] on Cotham Hill, which has al fresco dining in the front garden area of the café. Sandwiches are a speciality here, so choose from the enormous array on offer or request the staff make you up your favourite. Add one of the freshly squeezed juices to your order and you’ll soon be feeling in tip-top condition once more.
